“When you connect to the heart of a child, everything is possible.” -Dr. Karyn Purvis.

Today, I am focusing on kiddos and the family system. Although I am not a TBRI® practitioner, I use various principles that Dr. Karyn Purvis established. Recently, I finished reading, “The Connected Child” and had some great take aways.

Stay calm See the need Meet the need Don’t quit TBRI® is meeting the kiddo where they are and accepting them for who they are in that moment. This is a family approach that focuses on trauma and the importance of recognizing that food and water are basic needs to get the kiddo to use their “upstairs brain”. Understanding how to enter the upstairs brain, we will totally come back to this, you have to understand that their downstairs brain is overdeveloped; therefore, your interactions are focused on providing safety and security. If you are interested in learning more about TBRI®, I have attached the TCU website where it all began.
